부부인 라이언과 클레어는 외딴 집으로 이사 온다. 집 주인인 제랄드는 집 안 곳곳에 몰래카메라를 설치하고 부부를 지켜본다. 클레어의 임신 이후 관계가 예전 같지 않자 비서인 한나와 바람을 피우는 라이언. 심지어 비서를 집으로 불러 깊은 관계를 이어나가는데, 어느 순간 다시 클레어에게 마음을 돌리려 한다. 하지만 한나는 클레어에게 자신과의 관계를 말하라며 라이언을 압박한다. 라이언과 클레어를 만나기 위해 집으로 찾아오지만 부부가 없자, 그들이 돌아오길 기다린다. 이 모습을 지켜보던 제랄드는 집으로 가서 한나를 납치해 그 집 지하실에 감금한다. 끝내 라이언의 외도를 알게 된 클레어는 라이언에게 집에서 나갈 것을 요구한다. 그리고 우연히 카메라 렌즈를 발견하고 다시 라이언을 불러 함께 있는데, 한나는 묶인 사슬을 풀고 지하실 문을 두드린다. 이를 보고 제랄드는 집으로 와서 한나와 라이언을 죽이고 클레어를 기절시켜 끌고 간다. 몇 주 뒤 경찰이 집을 찾아오지만 이상한 점은 발견하지 못하고 돌아간다. 제랄드의 섬뜩한 범행은 계속 이어진다.
