주인공인 개 밴지는 메리라는 여인과 폴, 신디라는 두 명의 아이들과 함께 그리스로 여행하게 된다. 한편, 세계적인 에너지 부족을 해결할 수 있는 방법을 개발한 한 과학자가 실종되는 사건이 일어나는데 세계 각국에서는 그의 기술을 얻으려고 혈안이 된다. 미국정부에서는 그 과학자와 접선을 시도하기 위해 마침 접선 장소인 그리스로 여행할 계획이 있는 벤지의 몸에 암호를 몰래 새겨넣고 그와 함께 비밀요원인 디트리히를 파견한다. 그러나 정보를 입수한 국제적인 한 스파이가 디트리히를 살해한 후 그의 행세를 하며 벤지 일행에 접근한다. 그리스에 도착한 벤지는 각국 범죄자들의 표적이 되어 납치당하지만 영리한 꾀를 내어 그들의 손에서 빠져나오다 가짜 미국 정보 요원의 손에 들어가게 된다. 그러나 미국에서 파견된 또다른 진짜요원에 의해 그 사실이 밝혀지고 결국 벤지는 용기있는 행동으로 위기를 넘기고 가족품에 돌아온다.

Benji gets lost after a flight overseas and becomes a stray in Athens, Greece. He then tries everyday to reunite with his family while mysterious people pursue him, in a race to get a code which was secretly tattooed on his paw at the airport. But who are the bad guys and who are the agents that can be trusted? Will Benji and his kids and their nanny ever get to enjoy their vacation?
